Do you get the winter blues? It seems as though I may be getting them now. The gloomy, brisk cold days that seem to drag on and on makes winter seem unbearable. It takes all of your energy just to get up and do anything…even laundry!! Maybe I could share some of my tips that have helped me enjoy this beautiful season in a not so gloom and doom way. First, after all the holiday bustle, I find time to make my “to do list” and I break those down to a bunch of different sections such as, declutter what and where, house projects, my personal me projects, doctor appointments, dinner ideas…etc I mean the lists can go on and on. I know that for me sometimes these list can just help with taking all this off my chest and out of my head.
Another thing I do is take time away from social media, house things, and make a day for myself. And by this I mean, walking around the mall and actually going into stores that I may not get to when your lugging around kids or on time restrictions. Maybe going to get a manicure or pedicure or if you want to go crazy, a massage!! Heck even just a haircut or color. I have found myself just going to a makeup station and asking the beautiful gals to make me up. Possibly grab yourself a coffee and just chill with a magazine or book at the coffee shop and not at home.
Turn the lights up, put music on, open those blinds or curtains! Work in your journal, organize a cupboard or drawer. Get dinner in the crockpot, make a dessert, change it up a bit, and surprise your family. Sometimes being ahead gives you the sense of relief. At least for me it does. Don’t get me wrong, somedays Im just running around like a yellow cab taking the kids to their activities, or getting odds and ends that are needed at the house, but I have been trying to find time to release that burden of the winter blues and enjoy the season. After all it is beautiful, cold but beautiful!
Enjoy,
Tabatha
